When it comes to supporting residents’ independence, our first job is to listen.

As a professional in social care, you understand the importance of listening. So why not work for a local authority that values it as highly as you do?

We believe that the voices of the people who use our services should help shape our priorities. That’s why we’ve always built our plans for the future of Adult Social Care in collaboration with our communities.  From North Kensington to Knightsbridge, Earl’s Court to Worlds End, we benefit from perspectives that are truly diverse. Half our 160,000 residents were born outside the UK and there are over 90 languages spoken across the borough. It’s a borough full of positive energy and ideas.

Adult Social Care in Kensington and Chelsea

In Kensington and Chelsea, we support people’s independence and wellbeing and strive to enable them to live in the community with dignity, choice and control. Our focus is on achieving the best outcomes for each individual; we approach their needs with sensitivity, but also with an openness to innovation. And, by sharing facilities and expertise in a Bi-borough agreement with Westminster City Council, we deliver joined-up health and social care services which truly put residents at the heart.

Like many inner-city councils, we do face challenges, many of which have become particularly acute during the pandemic. We are home to some of the country’s most deprived wards and are still rebuilding trust and confidence following the Grenfell tragedy.  We are committed to providing quality services that are responsive, effective and efficient.

Adult Social Care Roles

We’ve been serving and listening to the community throughout the pandemic, but we have adapted to more flexible working where we can. We believe our standards remain high – for residents and colleagues. We give our people the time, resources and commitment to care. And right now, we’re hiring in the following positions:

  • Advanced Practitioner
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Experienced Adult Social Worker
  • Social Worker / AMHP Duty Worker

Our social care professionals work together in close-knit, supportive teams where ongoing learning and development are a priority. Together we’ll ensure the borough’s disabled, elderly and vulnerable adults receive the best possible support, tailored to their needs.

Your ongoing learning and professional development

We provide outstanding Learning and Development opportunities supporting professional and career development:

  • a comprehensive range of courses and workshops on a wide range of topics and practice areas
  • all practitioners are being trained in ‘systemic practice’: an exciting programme to support and embed strengths-based practice
  • we are a member of the West London Social Work Teaching Partnership and Research in Practice for Adults (RIPFA) which also offers excellent CPD training.
  • we encourage experienced social workers to undertake post-qualifying courses including Practice Education and Best Interest Assessor courses, and Advanced Mental Health Practitioner training where appropriate

Our commitment

We’re committed to giving our residents the support they need so they can live safe, fulfilling, independent lives. This includes:

  • involving our communities fully in the development of effective adult social care services, so that they are at the heart of all we do
  • focusing on prevention and early intervention to prevent or forestall future need
  • understanding the lives of residents, their goals, challenges and ambitions
  • making sure we are an age- and dementia-friendly borough
  • minimising loneliness and isolation, especially for elderly and disabled residents
  • safeguarding vulnerable residents from all forms of abuse
  • supporting mental health needs
  • developing digital solutions to help people understand, plan and manage care services
  • working with NHS partners to provide truly integrated health and social care services

If you want to be part of a dynamic and creative organisation that puts listening at the heart of everything it does, we want to hear from you.
